Civil Gideon
Gidean v. Wainwright was a case which eventually lead to states being required to provide attorneys to persons in criminal cases who were unable to afford their own lawyer, known commonly as a public defender. Legal Delta LLC takes this a step further. We believe that all persons in the United States have a right to counsel as a defendent, regardless of whether the case is civil or criminal. Legal Delta strives to make our services affordable to people of all means. This means sometimes instituting payment plans and sliding fees based on income. We provide a large share of our time to pro-bono cases and we work closely with women’s shelters and domestic abuse centers to assist their clients.
One of our causes is the middle to lower income bracket representation. We have found that many people in this area are not being able to qualify for free legal aid, yet do not make enough to afford their own lawyer at full price. Sadly, many of these people opt to be represented pro se, or as their own lawyer. This puts them at a distinct disadvantage in the courtroom. Legal Delta wants all people to be able to receive competent, high-quality legal counsel, no matter what their situation.
