I am pleased to share the September 2026 issue of Construction Law International (CLInt), the journal of the International Bar Association International Construction Projects Committee, which I edit as Committee Editor. The full PDF is attached.
Two of the feature articles grew out of panels held at the IBA Annual Conference in Toronto in November 2025, and it is good to see that work now reaching a wider readership.
In this issue:
▸ Country updates from Canada (Andrea Lee) on adjudication and prompt payment legislation; Chile (Elina Mereminskaya) on the May 2026 award that denied the Santiago Airport concessionaire compensation for COVID-19-related construction costs; and Vietnam (Vu Le Bang) on the new Law on Construction in force since 1 July 2026.
▸ Features on risk allocation and force majeure in an era of abnormal weather (Michael Earwaker and Ana Cândida de Mello Carvalho); decarbonisation policies and energy infrastructure in Italy, Germany and the US (Zach Torres-Fowler, Janet Walker, CM, Hermann Knott and Piergiorgio Zettera LL.M.); Zimbabwe’s 2026 PPP Guideline (Rudo Magundani); the Privy Council’s decision in Uniform Building Contractors v WASA on FIDIC notice provisions (Isa Jeziah Dookie); why delay experts differ (Marianne C Ramey); building trust in EPC negotiations for power projects (Engin Ertuş); and convertible notes as a bridge for early-stage infrastructure funding (Pedro Felipe Eraso).
▸ An In-House Counsel Interview with Nick Cowie, General Counsel of WSP for the Middle East and Asia, by Aarta Alkarimi, C.Arb, FCIArb (Arb and Med).
▸ Book reviews:
– Arbitration of Commercial Disputes (2nd edn), by Andrew Tweeddale and Masood Ahmed, reviewed by Joanne Clarke
– Building Defects Law, by Darryl Royce, reviewed by Thayananthan Baskaran and Leezzie John
– Handbook on Construction Law and Arbitration, edited by Krishan Singhania and Srishti Singhania, reviewed by Dr Aleksander Godhe
My thanks to all the authors for their contributions and to the Editorial Board members for their hard work.
