Energy Transition Disputes presentations in Sao Paulo and Paris

Over the last month, just before the 28th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties, I had the opportunity to exchange views with top lawyers and thought leaders worldwide on procurement methods, dispute prevention and arbitration of energy transition projects and disputes, first, as a panellist discussing the green transition and the future of energy arbitration at the X CAM-CCBC – Centro de Arbitragem e Mediação Congress during the SPAW | São Paulo Arbitration Week and then co-moderating a panel on novel procurement models and dispute resolution regimes related to the growing demand for energy transition infrastructure at the International Bar Association Annual Conference in Paris.

After intense and enriching debates, I see that even though legal institutions and theories remain mainly the same over time, extreme circumstances, new technologies, and the challenges imposed by climate change are giving way to unexpected applications of the law, which justify analyzing energy transition project development and dispute prevention/resolution separately.

I would like to thank the International Construction Projects Committee of the IBA and CAM-CCBC for the invitation. It was a pleasure sharing these panels with Aarta Alkarimi, C.Arb, FCIArb, Gabriel Seijo Leal de Figueiredo, Lucinda Low, Júlio César Bueno, Maria Madalena Porangaba, Natalie Reid, Shona Frame, Michael Earwaker, Ioannis Vassardanis and Alexander Leventhal -many thanks to Jean-Pierre Eijck, Joe Moore, Ricardo Aprigliano and all the organisers.
